    Get PDF
The process of teaching and learning suffers from poor conceptualizations of tacit knowledge to be explicit. This paper interprets and externalizes lecturer tacit knowledge based on knowledge visualization approach. Externalization process is a process of converting tacit knowledge such as ideas and experiences into written form so that it can be transferrred to the students. Thus knowledge visualization is used as an approach to externalize lecturer tacit knowledge through teaching material to be shared among the students. An exploratory research is adapted to discuss the issue of externalization process based on knowledge visualization approach. A conceptual framework is developed which provides an analytical perspective on externalizing tacit knowledge. The results of this study reveal that knowledge visualization is one of the approaches to convert lecturer tacit knowledge to student explicit knowledge in teaching and learning process

Knowledge is considered as the main competitive asset of the organization.Work on the knowledge work productivity has barely begun, but the most important contribution that management needs to construct in the 21st century is not only to increase the productivity of knowledge work and knowledge workers in the new century. The quality of knowledge work productivity are becomes pivotal in the context of software development today.Software development is a knowledge-intensive activity and its success depends heavily on the developers’ knowledge and experience. A conceptual model will be proposed on a way describing organization to improve quality of knowledge work productivity. The methodology begins with a reviewing a theoretical foundation and expert review that provides the scientific basis for knowledge work productivity specifically for software development. A questionnaire will be constructing in order to investigate the relationship between factors of knowledge work and quality of productivity on knowledge work. The respondents are software developers from Small Manufacturing Enterprise(SME). The data will be analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to identify the significant direct relationship effect among the factors. The proposed model will be helpful for the software developers to understand the determinant factors for knowledge works productivity

The Pair programming as a part of the Agile software development has been gaining acceptance among practitioners and software development community. This successful leads a wide use of pair programming in educational setting as pedagogy in programming course.Pair programming can foster knowledge sharing among students. Many studies have been done with pair programming in education however most of them do not highlight internalized knowledge particularly tacit knowledge from knowledge sharing processes between students who act as driver and navigator in pair programming practice. Thus, this paper will discuss knowledge internalization based on the knowledge sharing activities in pair programming practices by employing the process of Socialization, Externalization, Combination and Internalization (SECI).The sample of the study consisted of 60 students who were actively engaged in pair programming practices. The factors investigated were types of internalized tacit knowledge in the form of learning, thinking and decision making skills among the students. Online questionnaires were adapted from SECI model into educational context.T Test technique was used to analyze the data. This study is expected to contribute a better understanding of important knowledge sharing activities to construct student’s skills during Internalization process through pair programming. This study’s result will be considered for future rigorous theoretical framework for constructing tacit knowledge among the students in pair programming environment

Commercial transactions within the social media are now getting a high attention among its users worldwide including Malaysians.People involve in these transactions or also known as the social commerce, with or without their conscious. The main intention of using social media in the first place is to socialize with friends and families. However, due to the trusted environment within their social network group, this has led them to acquire some additional information regarding the products or services from the group before making any advance commitment.Instead of getting information from the company website, social media has been an open and unstructured knowledge-base which managed to change the users’ style of making a purchasing decision.Hence, this study is an exploratory research that examines the level of social commerce involvement among the social media users in Malaysia.By using a convenience sample size of 120 drawn from the staff of Politeknik Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyah, Kulim, Kedah, this study aims to explore in details the role of social support (recommendation and information sharing) and actual social ties (friends and families) in social commerce particularly in Malaysia setting. The findings show that the social support given each other in the social media and the actual social ties that the users already possessed plays an important role towards Malaysians involvement in social commerce

During the occurrence of disaster, knowledge sharing plays as important role.Through effective knowledge sharing, it can help victims save lives; received immediate relief and support; and minimize the disaster effect. But lack of works has been done to examine the determinants of knowledge sharing within disaster management context. Therefore, this study aims to provide a better understanding of knowledge sharing during the occurrence of disaster. In order to examine the determinant of individual's knowledge sharing behavior during the occurrence of disaster, the researcher will use social cognitive theory (SCT) to conceptualize a theoretical model for this study. This study holds self-efficacy, reciprocity, social support and social recognition as an influence individual in sharing knowledge during the occurrence of disaster. The methodology begins with constructing a questionnaire to investigate the theoretical model. The respondents are victims that have had experience in sharing knowledge during the flood. This study was used a Structural Equation Modeling(SEM)to test causal relationships between constructs.Hopefully, by proposed theoretical model through this research can provide additional insight on what influence knowledge sharing behavior within disaster management context

Pair programming practice has been widely used as a pedagogical approach in educational setting specifically in the programming course. Most pair programming studies agree that this practice can foster knowledge sharing among students. However, the studies do not highlight knowledge sharing during pair programming practices and towards their performance. Therefore, the main aim of this study is to test the suitability of knowledge sharing activities by using Socialization, Externalization, Combination, and Internalization (SECI) model in pair programming practices (PPP) amongst students in higher learning institution. In achieving the main aim, this study involved experimentation in order to test the effectiveness of the SECI model. 202 participants were actively engaged in pair programming practices, and involved in the experimentation of the study. The findings reveal that there are significant direct effect of Socialization towards Externalization, Externalization towards Combination and Combination towards Internalization. However, the direct effect of Internalization towards Performance are not significant. In addition, the direct effect of SECI model for pair programming practices are not significant towards the performance of the students

ICT is emerging as a process of knowledge-sharing without any physical and geographical constraints.ICT has successfully been used to disseminate knowledge during a constrained situation (i.e. disaster). In other words, ICT can be used to connect the public during a time of crisis. In Malaysia, the National Security Council(NSC) is one of the agencies responsible for managing disasters.Having a reputation as being a "champion of agencies", the NSC is responsible for providing a social media by which to share disaster-related knowledge with the public.Nevertheless, to what extent this social media actually supports the knowledge-sharing process is unknown.Hence, the purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which a social media actually supports the knowledge-sharing process; a theory known as Task-Technology Fit (TTF) is adopted. The data will be collected by distributing questionnaires to the users who have experience in accessing the social media tools of the NSC to acquire disaster-related knowledge during the occurrence of a disaster (i.e. flood). Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) will be used to analyze the data. The development of a theoretical research model will assist the agencies involved in disaster management to predict user evaluation of the social media tool in order to gather knowledge/information related to disasters
